Rooftop Night Swimming

Rooftop Night Swimming is part of a series of site-specific video installations that included projections of videos of Persian Gulf onto the rooftops of Tehran. The Persian Gulf refers to the body of water that lies between Iran to the northeast and the Arabian Peninsula to the southwest. This name has become contested by some Arab countries since the 1960s in connection with the emergence of Pan-Arabism and Arab nationalism, resulting in the invention of the toponym "Arabian Gulf" . The installations were set up and filmed as the sun was setting and pre-recorded Azan (call to prayer) was playing from the local mosques.
